Werribee River Picnic Area, Wombat State Forest

Sunday 14 July 2019. The Werribee River Picnic Area is a lovely, quiet spot in the Wombat State Forest, quite off the beaten track. On neither of our visits was there another soul. The picnic area is nice enough, but the reason to come is to complete the Werribee River Walk, one of our very favourites. Walk north along the east bank of the Werribee River, ford the river, then walk south (and return) via the west bank. Take a short detour to Carrolls Springs for tasty mineral water. The total distance is around five kilometres. The picnic area is reached via the Bunding–Blakeville Rd, off the Ballan–Dayleford Rd.
