Friday 10 April 2020. Today, Good Friday, we decided to walk to the observation tower overlooking the rather marvellous Cheetham Wetlands, part of the Point Cook Coastal Park. The tower was built to celebrate Melbourne’s immigrant communities. Today it was closed due to measures taken to slow the spread of Covid-19, but the walk was no less enjoyable for that. It was a lovely, warm day, but not too warm; the big sky was a brilliant blue and contrasted with the colours of the salt-tolerant vegetation, all reds, greens and yellows. The tower is accessed via a path leading from the Point Cook Homestead car park.
