Saturday 15 August 2020. Lovely winter weather accompanied the Handels’ latest excursion to Newport Lakes Reserve, happily located within their five-kilometre coronavirus lockdown zone. The favourable conditions brought out many others too. Bemasked, they strolled and jogged in the sunshine around the bush tracks, past the reed beds hiding coots and ducks, across the stepping stones and back to the car park. At the stepping stones we encountered a pair of Black Swans with cygnets in tow. Adorable. After our walk we enjoyed a game of badminton, our new favourite coronavirus pastime/sport.
